Although only halfway through the year, the number of shoe drops so far has given us good idea of a number of sneakers that will make the best of 2017. Offers by the major players, as usual, top the list, whereas there are some unique collaborative releases that prove worthy. Here’s a list of some of the best sneakers of 2017.
Nike Vapormax Flyknit iD
One of Nike’s leading shoe lines is now available to be customized – for a price! Not really one of the best Nike deals Australia has to offer, but certainly attractive to those who want a unique pair of flagship sneakers. Available in men’s and women’s sizings, you have the ability to customize the cushioning with bright see-through colours, stylize the Swoosh and add a personal iD to the heel.
Our Legacy x Vans Vault Pack
The brand collaboration between Sweden-based Our Legacy and Vault By Vans complements their shared interests in skateboarding and punk rock. The collection includes American-made apparel as well as ten sets of footwear geared towards a specific segment of the population. As the promotion blurb says, the offering is “the wardrobe of someone that might surf in the morning, then head straight to work. Someone that might skate in the afternoon, go on a date on a Saturday night and then wake up to go to a hardcore matinee show.” Classic Vans shoe lines such as Old Skool and Half Cab have been treated with original colour schemes by Our Legacy.
Air Jordan 1 Retro Mid New Love (Yellow/Black)
Drawing from the original 1985 version and acting as a 10th anniversary celebration of the Air Jordan New Love/Old Love Pack from 2007, the Air Jordan 1 Retro Mid New Love features a black and yellow upper and faded yellow sole. The Jumpman logo is featured on the tongue, heel and inner. The Air Jordan wings logos are stamped on the ankles as opposed to jeweled on the originals. The shoes come with both black and yellow laces. With a low price point, the New Loves can be considered one of the best Nike deals this year.
Adidas Originals YEEZY Boost 350 V2 (Zebra)
A limited original release, the YEEZY Boost 350 V2, “Zebra” colour scheme sold out instantly creating a frenzied resale market. Being one of the most popular colour schemes they’ve since been re-released. Although not officially named as Zebra by adidas, the black and white striping was quickly tagged as such by the sneaker community. The Primeknit uppers also contain red threading for the SPLY 350 logo. The sole colour varies from white to yellow white. The heels feature white heel loops with black stitching.
One Star x Tyler, The Creator
One of the most recent releases on this list, Converse has teamed up with American rapper, Tyler, The Creator to release a signature One Star shoe. Tyler, The Creator has recently come off a collaboration with Vans causing speculation on that relationship. However, the new release is a classic Converse One Star with a light blue suede upper known as clearwater. The inlaid star is a white leather, the collar is white and the shoe has a proprietary Lunarlon insole. The outer sole is white with a classic Converse yellowish/gum bottom. As a limited edition release, expect these to sell out fast and go for a pretty penny on the resale market.
